A unique merit accumulation opportunity to offer all the food for His Holiness the 37^th Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang’s aspiration for the Summer Retreats at Shravasti, India.

The first retreat that His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang organized in Shravasti, India took place in 2019 with Theravada tradition monks from different countries. The second Shravasti Summer retreat was in this year 2023, with nuns from all over the world.

This is a universal Buddhist practice, the essence of Buddhadharma

Khenpo Samdup Rinpoche has committed with His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang to provide food offerings for the following years of the Summer Retreat program in Shravasti, India.

His aspiration is to get as many sangha donors as possible to offer all the food for the monks and nuns attending the retreat, and therefore, receive all the merits accomplished by this act of generosity. This is a major blessing and a lot of benefit for all the sangha donors.

45 days Summer Retreat, 108 monastics

BUDDHA SAKYAMUNI

… spent 30 years of his life in Shravasti, India where he did 25 times the practice of the Summer Retreat for the monks. He used his miracle powers to subdue the Tritikas so that this event could happen.

HIS HOLINESS DRIKUNG KYABGON CHETSANG

… built the Three Yanas Temple, in Shravasti, India with the vision to restore Buddha Sakyamuni’s Summer Retreat tradition.

The first retreat that His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang organized in Shravasti, India took place in 2019 with Theravada tradition monks from different countries. The second retreat was in this year 2023, with nuns from all over the world.

SOME HISTORY

One of Buddha’s disciples, Moggallana, while practicing, saw his mother who had recently passed away, deeply suffering in the hungry ghosts realm. Buddha told him he could help his mother by offering food to the monks so they could do dedications to her.

He did so, and due to his merit, the power of the sangha, and the power of dedication, they could liberate his mother.

The idea of this project is to support the parents for everything they have given to us and do merit accumulation for the benefit of them and every being.

Now we have this opportunity along with the vision and blessings of Buddha Sakyamuni, and anyone who wants to offer to this project will be able to.

WE NEED US$25,000 EACH YEAR

Food offering for every year Shravasti Summer Retreat is a project that will last for many years.
