Aug 15 – Aug 16, 2015: 100 Peaceful and Wrathful Deities (Shitro) Empowerment & Six Bardos Teaching @ George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia – Lecture Hall
The BuddhaDharma describes the dawning of the mandalas of the 100 Peaceful and Wrathful Deities in the Bardo following death. The Shitro empowerment introduces the practitioner to experiences described in the Tibetan Book of the Dead (Bardo Thodol) and helps prepare one for making the most of these transient opportunities to recognize the true nature of mind encountered in the bardo (intermediate state) between death and rebirth. If we receive the Shitro empowerment and do the practice, we will establish a good connection with the deities during our lifetime. Six Bardos teachings are also rare and focused on the six Bardos reveal how to turn every phase of life into an opportunity to experience an uncontrived and natural liberation. Liberation can follow a single moment’s recognition at the time of death or in the Bardo between lives.

Aug 19 – Aug 22, 2015: Special 4-day Stages of Meditation @ DDSC Temple, 5300 Ox Road, Virginia 22030
From the perspective of the Dharma, through meditation, we can achieve not only temporary physical and mental well-being, but also attain ultimate peace and happiness. This program is organized with the belief that if it can offer a complete set of teachings on the stages of meditation to all disciples, it will be very beneficial to their practice. To receive meditation instructions from a guru who possesses and masters the practice is a great blessing of the dharma and of the guru, and it will bring many additional benefits.
We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to receive these teachings from and practice with Garchen Rinpoche based on his personal experiences in meditation. Receiving these direct oral instructions on meditation from Garchen Rinpoche will be one of the most meaningful events in our lives.
